CD Townhall List Guidelines Dennis Paull dpaull@svpal.org and Deb Lagutaris deb@debocracy.org will serve as CD Townhall list monitors. Please email either one if you have a question whether a post is appropriate for the list before sending it out. To post to the list, use this address: CDTownhall@coastsidedemocrats.org CD Townhall Email List Guidelines An email discussion list can be a very powerful asset for building club identity and disseminating politically useful information. But it can also degrade into flame wars and other posts that cause members to unsubscribe from the list. The key is to attack the facts with other facts, not the poster. To allow the list to serve the interests of the subscribers requires that we set up some rules and have at least two list monitors who watch over the content and take corrective action when the list is being abused. 1. The purpose of the list is to provide a place where political topics of interest to members of the Coastside Democrats may be presented and discussed by all subscribers. 2. There will be at least two list monitors appointed by the Board, who will determine if the rules are being broken. Subscribers who break the rules will be put on probation. Subscribers who repeatedly break the rules will be un-subscribed from the list. Monitor decisions can be appealed to the Board. 3. All subscribers except for those on probation may post messages as they see fit. Those subscribers on probation will need the approval of the monitors before their posts will be sent to the other subscribers. 4. Only persons listed as paid members or friends of the Coastside Democrats will be allowed to subscribe. Only those who opt-in will become subscribers. Any subscriber may opt-out at any time. 5. Content posted by subscribers should not contain defamatory attacks on any other subscriber. 6. Message content should be considered private to the subscribers unless the message author agrees otherwise. 7. In order to keep the number of posts within reason, the moderators may ask that certain topics with excessive postings be moved to another list set up for that topic. 8. You may subscribe more than one email address to the list, but receive postings to just one email address. If you wish to establish such an arrangement, please email the list monitors with your list of email addresses, and indicate the address to which you prefer messages directed. 9. If a subscriber presses the “Reply” button, the new message will go to the original message author. If the “Reply to All” button is pressed, the message will go to the author and to all other subscribers. 10. A special message Subject prefix (CD Townhall) is added so that subscribers may easily identify and sort messages from the list. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
